Reflection

As I reflect on our ICT 10 lessons, I am particularly struck by the discussions about the inventors of social media and Blogger.com. These platforms have become an essential part of our everyday lives, and learning about the people behind their creation has given me a deeper appreciation for how much they have shaped modern communication.

Learning about the inventors of social media, such as Mark Zuckerberg with Facebook and Jack Dorsey with Twitter, made me realize how their innovations have fundamentally transformed how we interact with one another. They introduced platforms that not only allowed us to connect with people globally but also created spaces for self-expression, information sharing, and community-building. These social media pioneers had the vision to see how technology could connect the world, and their work has influenced almost every aspect of our personal and professional lives today. The power of social media is evident in its influence on culture, politics, and even business, and understanding its origins has helped me appreciate its impact even more.

Similarly, learning about Blogger.com, created by Pyra Labs and later acquired by Google, has highlighted the importance of blogging as a tool for content creation. Blogger.com was one of the first platforms that enabled ordinary people to publish their thoughts and ideas on the internet without needing advanced technical skills. It made me realize how the internet has evolved from being an exclusive space for experts to a platform where everyone’s voice can be heard. Blogger.com’s accessibility opened doors for many individuals to share their experiences, thoughts, and expertise with a global audience. This has had a lasting impact on how we consume and share information today.

Overall, our lessons on the inventors of social media and Blogger.com have deepened my understanding of how these platforms have shaped the digital world we live in. I am grateful to have learned about the visionaries behind these tools that we often take for granted. Moving forward, I will approach social media and blogging with greater awareness, recognizing the power these platforms hold in shaping our society.
